Becoming a Supporting Member:

Dear Supporting Member,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our organization, The Medallion Foundation and ask for your participation as a Supporting Member of our organization.

The Medallion Foundation is a non-profit organization (501 (c)(3)) with a mission of promoting aviation safety in Alaska . The Medallion Five Star Program is a compliance plus program as many of our requirements are higher than those of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Currently seventy-nine air carriers in Alaska have applied to participate in this unique voluntary program; thus far thirty-one air carriers have been awarded stars for their achievement; and three are at the Shield level. To obtain a star the carrier must adhere to a specific program and/or philosophy and be audited to a published standard. After earning all five of the stars, the applicant must undergo yet another audit to see if the programs have truly resulted in a proactive Safety Management System for that operator. This Five Star Program is currently offered at no cost to the applicant other than the time and resources required to implement the various programs.

As you make travel arrangements for your employees, family, or friends, The Medallion Foundation would encourage you to book that travel with participating air carriers who are working toward achieving these higher safety standards. For further information on the air carriers in your region please check our website at www.medallionfoundation.org.

If you support what the Foundation is attempting to accomplish, we would invite you to become a Supporting Member of The Medallion Foundation. We are only asking that you support the philosophies that are put forth on our web site and nothing more. If you do decide to support our safety effort, we ask that you provide a letter of support in recognition of the higher standards being required by the Medallion Foundation. We will recognize you as a supporter of the program on our web site and would appreciate your permission to use your logo.

There is no cost to you as a supporting member and you can withdraw your support at any time and for any or no reason. We will be providing you with updates on the progress of the program and will entertain any suggestions from supporting members. We are also seeking to recognize Supporting Members in other ways where they and the actively participating carriers can be singled out for their efforts to improve the aviation safety culture in Alaska .

Please contact me at 907.743.8050 or 907.229.2062 (cell) for more information. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.
